No Yolk, Des Moines Cook Wins Fair Egg Cooking Contest

DES MOINES, IA (09/13/2024) (readMedia)-- Anita Van Gundy of Des Moines won first place overall and a $300 cash award in the Egg-Ceptional Eggs Cooking Contest judged Tuesday, August 13, at the 2024 Iowa State Fair.

Regina Kennedy of Des Moines claimed second place overall and $200. Natalie Larson of Des Moines earned third place overall and $100.

Entries were judged on flavor, appearance/presentation, texture and ease of preparation.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There were 140 divisions, 726 classes and over 6,400 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
