No Yolk, West Des Moines Cook Wins Fair Egg Cooking Contest

DES MOINES, IA (08/28/2023) (readMedia)-- Angela Miller of West Des Moines won first place overall and a $300 cash award in the Egg-Ceptional Eggs Cooking Contest judged Tuesday, August 15, at the 2023 Iowa State Fair.

DeeDee Kennedy of Des Moines claimed second place overall and $200. Sara Carlson of Des Moines earned third place overall and $100.

Entries were judged on flavor, appearance/presentation, texture and ease of preparation.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 138 divisions, 695 classes and over 6,800 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center.
