Northwest Communications staff wins top honors at annual conference
SENATOBIA, MS (05/26/2017) Members of Northwest Mississippi Community College's Office of Communications brought home 10 awards, including the top award in Print Media at the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM) annual conference May 21 -23 in Ocean Springs. The conference featured guest speakers covering topics relevant to public relations activities at the state's universities and community colleges as well as an awards luncheon.
The Grand Award is given to the most outstanding entry in the print and electronic media categories. Northwest's "Viewbook" (Viewbook Category) won the Grand Award for print media.
Staff members also brought home four first place awards, four second place awards, and one third place award.
First place awards went to Graphic Designer Lindsay Stafford of Senatobia for the Northwest Viewbook (Viewbook Category) and the Ranger Football Recruiting Brochure (Brochure Category). Assistant Director of Communications/Public Information LaJuan Tallo of Senatobia received a first place award for her feature "Capturing his spirit: Northwest alum sculpts monument in memory of beloved teacher" (Feature Story Category), and Director of Communications Julie Bauer of Southaven received a first place award for "Fall 2016 DeSoto Center 2+2 Campaign" for her work in partnership with the University of Mississippi DeSoto Center staff (Creative Partners Category).
Stafford and Bauer earned a second place award for "100th Commencement Program" (Special Publications Category). Stafford also received a second place award for "Northwest Charging Station." (Single Piece of Artwork, Non-Sports Category). Tallo received two second place awards for "DeSoto Center student's story to be featured in Christian magazine," (Feature Story Category) and "Continuing Education Guides" (Brochure Category).
The third place award was presented to Bauer, Tallo and Sybil Canon, associate vice president of Development and Special Projects for the college's alumni magazine, "Northwest Now." (Institutional Magazine Category).
