DANVILLE , IL (12/06/2012)(readMedia)-- A few Lakeview College of Nursing students recently raised funds to help send pediatric cancer patients to camp.

Chanelle Carley of Mount Prospect, IL; Brittany Graff of Charleston, IL; Elizabeth Rademacher of Holland, MI; and Ilse Vega of Justice, IL, wanted to help the Children's Oncology Services, Inc.

According to the students, this organization believes that a diagnosis of cancer should not prevent a child from experiencing the simple joys of childhood. The Children's Oncology Services, Inc., offers several events and activities, including a summer camp.

The group of students focused on raising awareness and raising money for those who can not afford to go to camp on their own. They sold t-shirts and held a fundraiser at a local bar & grill in order to accomplish this. Overall, the students raised $390.

Graff says she is glad that she and the other students were able to help. "This has left a footprint on the community and hopefully will make a great impact on a child's life," said Graff.
