OCTC ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD MEMBERS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2018

OWENSBORO, KY (03/26/2018) Owensboro Community & Technical College announces new Board of Directors members who began their terms in January of 2018. The new members are William K. Mounts, CeCelia W. Robinson and M. Joan Hayden.

The new members replace Michael T. Baker, Pat Jones and Dr. Bill Chandler. Baker, who served as vice chair, has served on the OCTC Board of Directors since 2011. Pat Jones, had served as secretary and has had a seat on the board since 2010. Dr. Bill Chandler has served on the college board multiple times and his current term began in 2010.

Jeff Carpenter, Chairman of the OCTC board who has served on the board since 2006 added, "I am honored to have served with such strong leaders who have such varied experiences and are passionate about OCTC and its success."

The ten-person board of directors is comprised of seven governor appointed members, and elected representatives from the student body, college faculty, and staff, respectively. Appointed members may serve six-year terms and elected members terms are three years.

"OCTC has been very fortunate to attract such prestigious board members who are interested in not only the success of the college, but in helping us stay relevant, and in being integral to workforce development, and community needs" commented Dr. Scott Williams, OCTC President.

Will Mounts is vice president of OMICO Plastics, Inc. He earned an M.B.A. from the University of Southern Indiana and has an undergraduate degree in Management and Marketing from the University of Evansville after graduating from North Posey High School. He is past president of the GO FAME chapter and sits of the KY FAME board, the Green River Workforce Development board, and is a member of the Greater Owensboro Economic Development board. He and his wife, Brandi live in Owensboro with their daughter.

M. Joan Hayden, after graduating from Owensboro Catholic High School, she went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Brescia University. She is co-owner of Hayden Electric, Inc. and Hayden Farms. She is a member of the KY Poultry Federation, the KY Cattleman's Association, the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, the KY Chamber of Commerce, Daviess County Farm Bureau, the American Gelbvich Association and the American Red Angus Association. Hayden has received numerous honors and awards for environmental excellence relating to farming, volunteer service and for contributing to rural life in Owensboro. She and her husband Martin live in Philpot and have 5 grown sons, and 3 grandchildren.

CeCelia "CeCe" Robinson graduated from Ohio County High School and is slated to graduate from OCTC in May with an Associate in Arts degree. She is employed by Ohio County Healthcare and is responsible for community relations. Robinson served on the Ohio County Chamber of Commerce board, is an Executive Officer of the Ohio County Health Coalition, is a member of the Green River Health Council, the Ohio County Industrial Foundation board, and was a founding member of the Ohio County Economic Development Alliance. She and her husband Troy reside in Owensboro and have three children.

The other sitting members of the OCTC Board of Directors are: Jefferson "Jeff" B. Carpenter, Chairman, who has served on the board since 2006. George W. Henderson, Jr. of Unifirst Corporation and OCTC alumnus who has served on the board since 2005. William E. "Bill" Quisenberry, Jr. is an attorney and resides in McLean County. His tenure on the OCTC board began in 2014. John Matthew "Matt" Robbins is the Superintendent of Daviess County Public Schools and began his term in 2013. Dr. Andrea Borregard is the elected staff representative and is the OCTC Director of Financial Aid. Marty Higdon is the elected faculty representative and teaches in the advanced manufacturing division. Alexander "Alex" Mindrup is the student representative and also serves as the President of the OCTC Student Government Association.
