OWENSBORO, KY (12/08/2017) Owensboro Community and Technical College (OCTC) art students participated in the college's Fall 2017 semester Student Art Exhibition. The culmination of the exhibit is the student awards, including merit and purchase awards. Shelby Ray earned a Merit Award for her charcoal drawing, Drapery, Adrian Ambrose won a Merit Award for her oil painting, Spirit of the West, and Alyson Johnson won a Merit Award for her ceramic vessel, Haku. The first-place purchase award and Best in Show went to Hai Soe for his oil painting, Hornbill, second-place purchase award went to Angel Higdon for her wire sculpture, Chaos, and Chloe Hall earned the third-place purchase award for her linocut, King Snake. The winning purchase award pieces will become a part of OCTC's permanent collection. Faculty members Monty Helm and Lou O'Leary will teach studio classes in sculpture, 2-D design and drawing during the Spring 2018 semester.
