OGS Announces Upcoming Construction Opportunities at Utica State Office Building

ALBANY, NY (08/19/2010)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced bidding for four construction contracts associated with the restoration of the second floor office space at the Utica State Office Building.

"Everyone has been extremely cooperative and patient throughout the disruption of the fire and the ensuing restoration efforts, including the Department of Labor, elected officials, our building tenants and visitors," Commissioner Egan said. "We are looking forward to awarding these contracts and completing our work here so that state operations in Utica can return to normal."

Contracts will be awarded for construction work (estimated costs $250,000 - $500,000), HVAC work (estimated costs $100,000 - $250,000), plumbing work (estimated costs $100,000 - $250,000), and electrical work (estimated costs $25,000 - $50,000).

There will be a pre-bid meeting on August 30 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 103-D at the Utica State Office Building and bids will be due on September 1. Construction is expected to begin soon after bids are approved and are anticipated to be completed before the end of the calendar year.

The Office of General Services requires the participation of Minority and Women-Owned Businesses in its procurements. Accordingly, the Commissioner of General Services requires that Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs) and minority and women employees are given the opportunity to participate in the OGS procurement and construction programs.
