OGS Announces Upcoming Construction and Consulting Opportunities

New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced bidding for five construction contracts representing more than $1.2 MILLION in construction. Once awarded, the contracts will provide work in two New York counties.

Title Engineering/Architectural Services - Term Contract

Project Description The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Design & Construction (D&C) intends to contract with up to six firms to provide Engineering and Architectural Services. Prime firm(s) must possess a strong mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering background as assigned tasks will primarily be in these areas of expertise, with a minor requirement of fire protection/fire alarm, civil, structural and environmental engineering as well as architecture. The firm will be required to provide hazardous material investigation and design services for the remediation/removal of such materials as part of the work of this contract. In addition, the firm will be required to provide construction management services as advisor to the owner. Services can be provided by the proposed design team including sub-consultants. The majority of the projects will involve the rehabilitation of existing facilities and application of sustainability concepts in compliance with the Governor's Executive Order 111. A percentage of the assignments of this contract(s) are anticipated to be for "urgent" projects that require expedited design schedules.

The New York State Office of General Services (OGS) provides a broad range of support services that facilitate the operations of state government, and assists local governments, public authorities, public and private agencies. The OGS Design and Construction Group provide a full range of architectural, engineering and construction management services to state agencies.

The OGS Design and Construction Group also selects qualified consultants to provide diversified services. These services may include: architectural and engineering design, land surveying, construction management, hazardous materials sampling, and materials testing.

The Office of General Services requires the participation of Minority and Women-Owned Businesses in its procurements. Accordingly, the Commissioner of General Services requires that Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (M/WBEs) and minority and women employees are given the opportunity to participate in the OGS procurement and construction programs.
