OGS to Award over $1.1 Million in New Construction Contracts

Work to Commence in Five New York Counties

ALBANY, NY (03/05/2010)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced that bids representing more than $1.1 MILLION in new construction have been awarded. The awards encompass seven contracts that will provide work in five New York counties.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

DUTCHESS COUNTY

A construction contract to renovate front entrance doors at the Downstate Correctional Facility in Fishkill, NY was bid by six firms. Of those six, Idema General Contractors, Inc. of Poughkeepsie, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $99,650.

ERIE COUNTY

A construction contract to replace gym floor at the Tonawanda Indian Community House in Akron, NY was bid by eight firms. Of those eight, MGR Constructors, Inc. of Depew, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $114,400.

ORANGE COUNTY

A construction contract to repair vehicle bridge at the Mid-Orange Correctional Facility in Warwick, NY was bid by nine firms. Of those nine, Monpat Construction Inc. of Flushing, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $405,000.

RICHMOND COUNTY

A construction contract to provide building renovations at the Community Multi-Service Office in Staten Island, NY was bid by 22 firms. Of those 22, Project Eye Consultants Inc. of Staten Island, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $208,400.

SULLIVAN COUNTY

Construction, electrical and heating and ventilation contracts were bid to provide visitor cubicles, Building No. 4 at the Sullivan Correctional Facility in Fallsburg, NY.

Construction: Dalmar Contracting Corp. of Rockville Centre, NY was the apparent low bidder out of six firms. The low bid was $241,000.

Electrical: Sausto Contracting, Inc. of Rhinebeck, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $14,537.

Heating and Ventilation: S & O Construction Services, Inc. of Pleasant Valley, NY was the apparent low bidder out of four firms. The low bid was $19,079.
