ALBANY, NY (03/11/2010)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced that bids representing more than $8.1 MILLION in new construction have been awarded. The awards encompass 11 contracts that will provide work in five New York counties.
The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All of the low bidders are New York State firms.
The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:
ALBANY COUNTY
Construction, electrical and elevator contracts were bid to rehabilitate elevators, main platform at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, NY.
Construction: M & Z Construction Contracting Corp. of Brooklyn, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $68,200.
Electrical: Schenectady Hardware & Electric Co., Inc. of Schenectady, NY was the apparent low bidder out of six firms. The low bid was $1,249,800.
Elevator: Schindler Elevator Corp. of Albany, NY was the apparent low bidder out of three firms. The low bid was $4,932,700.
An electrical contract to upgrade electric system, maintenance headquarters at the DOT Region 1, Albany County in Voorheesville, NY was bid by 12 firms. Of those 12, Farina Electric Inc. of Mechanicville, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $128,530.
ERIE COUNTY
A construction contract to replace roof on powerhouse, Building No. 22 at the Wende Correctional Facility in Alden, NY was bid by eight firms. Of those eight, Elmer W. Davis, Inc. of Rochester, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $242,900.
QUEENS COUNTY
A plumbing contract to provide gas connection, gas fired burners and fuel monitoring system at the Centralized Services Building in Long Island City, NY was bid by five firms. Of those five, Thomas F. Cash & Sons, Inc. of Elmont, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $172,990.
SCHOHARIE COUNTY
Construction, electrical, heating and ventilation and plumbing contracts were bid to renovate locker rooms, pool building at the State University Agricultural/Tech College in Cobleskill, NY.
Construction: AOW Associates, Inc. of Albany, NY was the apparent low bidder out of 13 firms. The low bid was $236,800.
Electrical: Brownell Electric Corp. of Fort Edward, NY was the apparent low bidder out of eight firms. The low bid was $42,800.
Heating and Ventilation: DiGesare Mechanical, Inc. of Schenectady, NY was the apparent low bidder out of eight firms. The low bid was $52,222.
Plumbing: DiGesare Mechanical, Inc. of Schenectady, NY was the apparent low bidder out of eight firms. The low bid was $97,777.
SUFFOLK COUNTY
A construction contract to rehabilitate brickwork, Building Nos. 81, 82 & 83, Phase 5 at the Pilgrim Psychiatric Center in West Brentwood, NY was bid by 38 firms. Of those 38, GMDV Trans, Inc. of Fresh Meadows, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $893,100.
