OGS to Award over $8.6 Million in New Construction Contracts

Work to Commence in Eight New York Counties

ALBANY, NY (09/02/2010)(readMedia)-- New York State Office of General Services Commissioner John C. Egan today announced that bids representing more than $8.6 MILLION in new construction have been awarded. The awards encompass 11 contracts that will provide work in eight New York counties.

The contracts are expected to be awarded to the apparent low bidders following the normal process of review and approval by the State Comptroller's Office. All of the low bidders are New York State firms.

The projects and apparent low bidders are described in the following listing by county:

CHEMUNG COUNTY

An electrical contract to replace electrical and lighting systems 'a' and 'g' blocks and shu at the Elmira Correctional Facility in Elmira, NY was bid by seven firms. Of those seven, Massa Construction, Inc. of Geneva, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $2,530,000.

CLINTON COUNTY

Construction and plumbing contracts were bid to provide domestic water and waste water piping and plumbing fixtures, cell block h, Bldg. No. 33 at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora, NY.

Construction: Murnane Building Contractors, Inc. of Plattsburgh, NY was the apparent low bidder out of six firms. The low bid was $767,800.

Plumbing: DiGesare Mechanical, Inc. of Schenectady, NY was the apparent low bidder out of six firms. The low bid was $3,430,500.

DUTCHESS COUNTY

An electrical contract to provide generators, Building Nos. 19, 66, 118, 178 and 179 at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie, NY was bid by 14 firms. Of those 14, Atlantic Electric, Inc. of Mahopac, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $220,800.

QUEENS COUNTY

Electrical and heating and ventilation contracts were bid to provide temporary boilers, Building Nos. 4, 71 & 72 at the Bernard Fineson DDSO in Queens Village, NY.

Electrical: Stasi/Dallas Electrical Contracting, Inc. of Brooklyn, NY was the apparent low bidder out of five firms. The low bid was $171,200.

Heating and Ventilation: Maric Plumbing & Heating, Inc. of Woodside, NY was the apparent low bidder out of 25 firms. The low bid was $800,995.

RICHMOND COUNTY

An electrical contract to provide fire alarm at the State Armory in Staten Island, NY was bid by 11 firms. Of those 11, Efficient Electrical Technologies Inc. of Long Island City, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $198,517.

SCHUYLER COUNTY

A construction contract to replace roofs, administration and 'b' dorm, Building Nos.1 and 17 at the Monterey Correctional Facility in Beaver Dams, NY was bid by six firms. Of those six, J & B Installations, Inc. of Skaneateles Falls, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $140,850.

SUFFOLK COUNTY

Electrical and plumbing contracts were bid to remove/replace underground fuel storage tank maintenance headquarters at the DOT Region 10, Suffolk County in Riverhead, NY.

Electrical: Eldor Contracting Corp. of Holtsville, NY was the apparent low bidder out of seven firms. The low bid was $47,380.

Plumbing: Fenley & Nicol Environmental, Inc. of Deer Park, NY was the apparent low bidder out of six firms. The low bid was $298,600.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY

A plumbing contract to upgrade eyewash station, Building No. 124 at the Camp Smith in Cortlandt Manor, NY was bid by five firms. Of those five, S & L Plumbing & Heating Corp. of Brewster, NY was the apparent low bidder with a bid of $43,075.
