OMRDD Celebrates disABILITIES Awareness Month with March 5 Opening of Month-long Exhibit

ALBANY, NY (03/03/2008)(readMedia)-- The Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (OMRDD) will celebrate Disability Awareness Month on Wednesday, March 5, with the opening of “Stories of Success: A Celebration of disABILITIES Awareness Month,” a month-long exhibit chronicling the history of disabilities in New York State and celebrating the achievements of individuals with developmental disabilities.

The opening will take place on the Empire State Plaza’s South Concourse from noon to 2 p.m. and feature remarks by OMRDD Commissioner Diana Jones Ritter, testimonials from individuals with developmental disabilities and music by the band Flame, a group composed entirely of individuals with disabilities.

"Stories of Success: A Celebration of disABILITIES Awareness Month," will exhibit March 5th through 31st on the Empire State Plaza Concourse.
