Oak Park Resident Ann Charney Colmo Receives Dominican's Rising Star Award
RIVER FOREST, IL (05/03/2011)(readMedia)-- Ann Charney Colmo, a resident of Oak Park, recently received the Exemplary Service Award from Dominican University. The award is presented to volunteers who give extraordinary service to Dominican and, in doing so, exemplify the mission of the university.
During Colmo's 27 years of distinguished service to Dominican University, she has held many titles: professor of political science, advisor for pre-law students, coordinator and director of the Honors Program, director of the Study Abroad Program, on-site director for the exchange program in Strasbourg, France, and the assistant academic dean for advising.
The important connections she builds with her students mirror the Dominican mission of a relationship-centered education. She has made Dominican University a stronger institution and her students are better prepared to give compassionate service to their communities. Colmo will retire at the conclusion of this academic year.
Founded in 1901, Dominican University is a comprehensive, coeducational Catholic institution offering bachelor's degrees through the Rosary College of Arts and Sciences and master's degrees through the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, the Brennan School of Business, the School of Education, and the Graduate School of Social Work.
