Pastor Charlie and Albany Police Department preparing for Grand Opening

ALBANY, NY (06/03/2015)(readMedia)-- Pastor Charlie of Victory Christian Church in Albany and the Albany Police Department are preparing for the Grand Opening of the Oak Street Park located at 240 Second Street in Albany. Over 10 year ago, Pastor Charlie Muller acquired properties located at the current site for the purpose of feeding at-risk children during the summer. For the past 10 years, over 15,000 children have been served at the Oak Street location. One particular day, Pastor Charlie's daughter Chelsie was feeding kids in the park and two Albany Beat Officers stopped by, Chelsie said to them that we need to build a park here. That was all it took, the Police officers sprang into action and with the help of a grant from Bimbos Bakeries and other community involvement, the park will open this Saturday. "This has been a longtime coming". Pastor Charlie "We are so excited to partner with the City of Albany Police Department and the City of Albany on this project". "This will be a beautiful park where families in the community can come and feel safe and enjoy watching their children having fun". "That is what this is about, building community, giving neighbors a sense of pride in their community".

"I want to take this opportunity to thank the many people and organizations who have stepped up to help us after the theft of our property". Zappone Motor Group and the Albany VFW Post and other individual donors have made it possible for us to move forward with this event on Saturday". "I can not tell you how much I appreciate the outpouring of support form people in our time of need". "In the coming weeks, we will be moving into phase II of this project, a team from Ohio will be coming to Albany to help us convert the house at the park into an Ice cream parlor for the summer months". This will be a great addition to the park and the neighborhood". Pastor Charlie
