ALBANY, NY (07/29/2008)(readMedia)-- In spite of Barack Obama's staged events in the capitals of Europe, Republican John McCain has vaulted to a 4-point lead in the latest USA Today/Gallup poll. Despite commanding wall-to-wall media coverage for over a week, including face-to-face sit-downs with major network evening news anchors, Obama actually lost ground in head-to-head match-ups with John McCain.
This is clear recognition that once you cut through all the hype and media spin, the American people have real doubts that Barack Obama has the experience and vision necessary to lead our country during the difficult times we face.
While Barack Obama spent his time being fawned over in European Capitals by the liberal internationalist elite, John McCain remained here at home articulating his vision for a strong America that is committed to protecting our homeland, winning the war on terror, enacting real reform of wasteful Washington spending, and establishing common sense energy policies that will lower gas prices for average Americans.
Furthermore, Barack Obama's decision to cancel plans to visit wounded solders in a military hospital is deeply troubling and belies a serious lack of judgment in someone who aspires to become Commander in Chief of a nation at war.
John McCain may not be the choice of Europe's political and cultural elite, but he is slowly but surely winning support from his fellow Americans in the small towns of our nation's heartland and the bustling streets of its great cities, because he's the strong, independent and principled leader America needs to make the difficult decisions that will face our next President.
