Onondaga Fatherhood Program Among Those Studied by Urban Institute

Study Finds Significant Demand for Services; Initial Findings Encouraging

ALBANY, NY (04/14/2009)(readMedia)-- The State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) will release initial findings of the Urban Institute's study of New York State's "Strengthening Families Through Stronger Fathers" initiative at the Westcott Community Center.

WHAT:

The Urban Institute has completed the most comprehensive study of fatherhood programs in the country. The report reviews five fatherhood pilot projects funded by OTDA that have been operating since 2006 and provide intensive employment services and other supportive services to low-income noncustodial parents. The goal of the fatherhood initiative is to increase noncustodial parents' financial and emotional involvement with their children.
