POTSDAM, NY (05/15/2012)(readMedia)-- Dramatic mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe and collaborative pianist Alan Smith will offer a joint press conference on Monday, May 21 to kick off the inaugural Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar at SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music. The first-ever seminar of its kind, the festival is unique in the nation in its focus on American song and collaborative work between singer and pianist.
The media availability will be the only chance to interview Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar Artistic Director Stephanie Blythe and master teacher/composer Alan Smith about their creative vision during the week-long session.
Blythe and Smith will offer a rare recital appearance on Tuesday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater at The Crane School of Music. Their program, "American Voices," will exclusively feature songs by American composers sung in English. This is a once-in-a-blue moon opportunity to see world-class artists bringing their immense talents to an intimate recital on the North Country stage.
