Operation B-Sting Draws Area Youth and Positive Energy
Super Regional Teen Event Scheduled for Saturday, July 24th.
STAUNTON, VA (07/19/2010)(readMedia)-- The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department along with The Shenandoah Valley Office on Youth hosts Operation "B" Sting. This event is a Teen Skate Competition combined with a Battle of the Bands Competition. These teen programs used to be two separate events held in different localities, but the two departments collaborated to combine them into one super regional teen festivity. Operation B-Sting will be held on Saturday, July 24 at the NEW & IMPROVED Action Skate Park in Gypsy Hill Park. Skate Registration @4pm, Event begins @5pm
Skate Competition
Skate Competition Registration begins at 4pm and the Competition begins at 5pm
Skaters can enter in Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced levels, there is also an 18+ category for older & more experienced skaters.
Awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes in each skill level include Skate Decks, Trucks, Wheels, T-shirts and lots of awesome giveaways.
Prizes are from Escape Skate Shop, whom will be there with merchandise for show and sell to promote their new downtown store. The owners of Escape Skate Shop Daniel Hester and Nic Wood assisted in generating the new Action Skate Park Design for the Parks & Recreation Department.
Battle of the Bands
Battle of the Bands is coordinated by the OOY and they have 5 teen bands playing this Saturday, so far confirmed are:
"Things to Come" "Atomfest", and "Chain Drive"
Prizes are awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place and include: recording time with "The Sound" in Charlottesville, a photo shoot with Cheyenne Cody Crawford Photography in Staunton, Regal Cinema movie tickets and Ciro's Pizza gift certificates in Staunton. Special thanks to businessman REO Hatfield of Waynesboro for the use of his pristine stage for the Battle of the Bands competition. Also Constant Q entertainment will be providing sound for the event.
