Organist Kevin J. Vaughn to Speak and Perform at Campbellsville University

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY (02/12/2018) (readMedia)-- CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Organist Kevin Vaughn, director of music and organist at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in South Bend, Ind., instructor of organ at Goshen College and adjunct professor of piano at the University of Notre Dame, will be at Campbellsville University on Tuesday, Feb. 27, to give a guest recital and a masterclass. Both events will be in Ransdell Chapel located at 401 N. Hoskins Ave. Campbellsville, Ky.

The masterclass for Campbellsville University organ students will begin at 4 p.m., and the guest recital begins at 8 p.m. The recital is free and open to the public.

Vaughn will be performing works by Litaize, Krebs, Saint-Saëns, J.S Bach and Mendelssohn.

Vaughn performs regularly as a solo organ recitalist an also appears frequently in collaborative programs of sacred music for voice and organ with baritone Stephen Lancaster.

In the 2013-2014 cycle of the National Young Artist Competition in Organ Performance sponsored by the American Guild of Organists, Vaughn was a semifinalist. In 2015, he won first prize in the Immanuel Lutheran Church Organ Scholar Competition in Evanston, Ill.

He is an active member of the American Guild of Organists and serves as dean of the St. Joseph Valley Chapter. Vaughn also holds the Guild's Colleague certificate.

Vaughn holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in piano, organ and sacred music, including the first doctor of musical arts degree in organ performance conferred by the University of Notre Dame.

He has studied under Phyllis Warner, Gail Walton and Craig Cramer.
