PSC Seeks Public Comment On Transmission Line

ALBANY, NY (07/16/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York State Public Service Commission (Commission) will hold two public information forums and two additional public statement hearings on an application by Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation d/b/a National Grid for a certificate of environmental compatibility and public need pursuant to Article VII for the construction of a new 115kV electric transmission line from Spier Falls, Saratoga County to Rotterdam, Schenectady County.

Interested members of the public are invited to attend these public information forums to receive updated information from the Department of Public Service and the applicant. Following each forum, members of the public may provide their comments regarding this matter at public statement hearings to be held as follows:

Thursday, July 22, 2010 -- 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. -- Public Information Forum

7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. -- Public Statement Hearing

Public Statement Hearing

The public will have an opportunity to present comments at the hearings before an Administrative Law Judge. A verbatim transcript of the hearing will be made for inclusion in the record of this proceeding.

To speak at the hearings, it is not necessary to make an appointment in advance or present written material. Persons will be called to speak after completing a request card. All comments at the hearings will be transcribed and become part of the Commission's formal record. The hearing will remain open and will continue until everyone wishing to speak has been heard or other reasonable arrangements are made.

Disabled persons requiring special accommodations may place a collect call to the Department of Public Service's Human Resource Management Office at (518) 474-2520 and should contact that office as soon as possible.
