On May 8, 2009, Con Edison proposed to increase its annual electric revenues by $854.4 million. The company says that the increase is needed to support continual infrastructure investment, increases in costs outside the company's control, increased financing costs, costs incurred but deferred for later recovery, and increases in operating costs for new and ongoing programs. The Commission has suspended the proposed new rates through April 4, 2010. Several active parties have filed testimony opposing various aspects of the company's proposal, and the company has responded thereto.
It is not necessary to make an appointment in advance or to present written material in order to speak at the public statement hearing. Speakers will be called after completing a request card. All comments at the hearing will be transcribed and become part of the Commission formal record. Each hearing session will remain open and will continue until everyone wishing to speak has been heard or other reasonable arrangements are made.
Disabled persons requiring special accommodations may place a collect call to the Department of Public Service's Human Resource Management Office at (518) 474-2520 as soon as possible.
