Paducah School of Art and Design to host The Wastelanders 2017 Summer Exhibition

PADUCAH, KY (07/18/2017) The Wastelanders 2017 Summer Exhibition, a group exhibition featuring works in a variety of media by members of the Paducah-based artists collective The Wastelanders, will open at Paducah School of Art and Design July 29 with a reception from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

The exhibit is free and open to the public and will run from July 29 through August 6 in the Bill Ford Gallery, located within PSAD's 2D and Graphic Design Building in the Lower Town Arts District.

Exhibiting artists are E.J. Abell, Paula Danby, Mark Donham, Nancy Flowers, Juanita Neal Gilliam, Jason Hargrove, LaNelle Mason, Sandra Pfiefer, Jane Viterisi, and Ben Walker.

"PSAD is pleased to host our first exhibition featuring works by The Wastelanders," says PSAD Dean Paul Aho. "This group of native talent continues to represent a creative community that existed before Paducah's Artists Relocation program and that champions the region's strength of place alongside the success of LowerTown as an arts district and other individuals and institutions in West Kentucky. As one might expect in such a group exhibition, there is a diversity of work to be seen and the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of its members."

Refreshments will be served by Kitchens Café, and live music provided by Metropolis, Illinois singer Rhonda James of the Melungeons. The Bill Ford Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Paducah School of Art and Design, a division of West Kentucky Community and Technical College, offers an Associate in Fine Arts degree in Visual Art and an Associate in Applied Science degree and certificate programs in visual communication: multimedia, as well as studio art classes for students of all levels and disciplines.
