Paul Smith's College announces food entrepreneurship workshop

Three-day program is designed to nurture new food business concepts

PAUL SMITHS, NY (06/04/2015)(readMedia)-- Culinary, hospitality and business experts at Paul Smith's College have developed a tailored program to help budding entrepreneurs explore their ideas for food-related businesses. Open to the public and located on the Paul Smith's College campus, the "Foodpreneur" agenda includes creative workshops, practical instruction and professional feedback over the course of three days in July.

Any food-related business concepts such as operating a restaurant, distributing specialty products or providing value-added services are an ideal fit for the workshop. Instructors and visiting executives will help participants nurture their ideas from a broad vision to a refined product backed by a clearly defined action plan.

Approximately ten experienced business leaders are anticipated to contribute.

"This is a great time to jump into food-related businesses," said chef Paul Sorgule, program director and seasoned industry veteran. "Quality startups are perfectly positioned to gain customer loyalty as people become increasingly conscious of the foods they eat."

Classes will meet 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in three sessions:

Friday, July 10, Brainstorming, Ideation and Critical Thinking

Saturday, July 11, Pitch & Critique and Entrepreneur Workshop

Saturday, July 18, Business Leader Panel Critique and Concept Incubator

Aspiring entrepreneurs are invited to a free interactive reception to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the Left Bank Café in downtown Saranac Lake. For more information, visit
