Paul Smith's College appoints Nicholas Hunt-Bull as provost

PAUL SMITHS, NY (06/02/2015)(readMedia)-- Paul Smith's College announced Tuesday that Nicholas Hunt-Bull will take the helm as provost on July 1.

Hunt-Bull will replace Richard Nelson, who has been named president of Nicolet College in Wisconsin.

"I'm very excited to serve as provost on one of the most beautiful campuses in the country," Hunt-Bull said. "I embrace Paul Smith's focus on career relevant majors and hands-on education and look forward to sharpening and expanding the college's tradition of excellence."

Hunt-Bull currently serves as the associate vice president of academic affairs for Southern New Hampshire University, where he began as a professor in 2002. He transitioned from a full-time faculty member to a senior academic leader during his time there and helped turn around the college's ailing honors program by recruiting students, reforming the curriculum and rebuilding relationships. In his current role, Hunt-Bull advises the college's provost on curriculum, governance, assessment, program development and technology issues.

He earned a doctorate and a master's in philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor's in philosophy from the University of Western Ontario.

"We are delighted that Nicholas Hunt-Bull is coming aboard as our chief academic officer," said Cathy S. Dove, president of Paul Smith's College. "His credentials are stellar, and we know he'll bring great passion, creativity, strategic vision and experience to the role of provost."

Hunt-Bull is moving to Paul Smiths with his wife and two of his children.
