Paul Smith's College to appear on national television

PAUL SMITHS, NY (01/06/2016)(readMedia)-- Someone walks up to you on the street and offers you a two-day $50,000 vacation to the Adirondacks. There's just one catch: You have 10 minutes to pack, and you have to leave right now. What do you do? How would you spend the money?

Once you've made the spontaneous decision to go for it, you sign up for the Adirondack Woodsmen's School at Paul Smith's College, of course.

That's how it all went down for two friends from the Midwest this past summer, and you can see it unfold on the upcoming episode of 50/50 on the Travel Channel next week.

The contestants experienced a one-day intensive session at the Adirondack Woodsmen's School. They made a grand entrance on the Paul Smith's stagecoach and then went through a grueling day of chopping, sawing, ax-throwing and speed climbing.

"They came to the Adirondacks to get an authentic experience, and I think we gave it to them," says professor Brett McLeod, head of the Woodmen's School. "It was great to share our little piece of paradise with the Travel Channel. They were awed by the beauty of our campus, and they earned a deep respect for the skills of the Adirondack lumberjack."

The episode airs at 10 a.m. EST Monday, Jan. 11, on the Travel Channel.
