Paul Smith's College to host workshop for North Country veterans

PAUL SMITHS, NY (03/16/2016)(readMedia)-- A panel of experts will assemble at Paul Smith's College to discuss the various loans, benefits and investment opportunities available to U.S. veterans living in the North Country.

The free workshop will take place from 5-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in the Bobcat Café in the Joan Weill Student Center.

"This event will serve as a one-stop shop for veterans who want to start their own businesses, obtain loans or learn more about education and other benefits," said Diane Litynski, director of the entrepreneurial business studies program at Paul Smiths College. "If you're a veteran and you have questions about the resources available to you, this is the place to start."

The panel discussion will kick off with an introduction by Eric Holmlund, dean of the School of Commercial, Applied and Liberal Arts at Paul Smith's College, and then Richard Hannis, district director of the Service Corps of Retired Executives, will discuss the free resources available to vets who want to start their own businesses.

Erica Choi of the Small Business Association in Syracuse will also provide information along with Jim Murphy, executive director of the Adirondack Economic Development Corp. in Saranac Lake; banking and loan specialists Dan Burke and Tim LaSarso of NBT Bank; and many others.

The free workshop is sponsored by SCORE, the U.S. Small Business Administration, Franklin County Veterans Services and the Paul Smith's College entrepreneurial business studies and veterans affairs programs.

Preregistration is encouraged but not required. Please contact Diane Litynski at dlitynski@paulsmiths.edu for reservations or further information.
