Paul Smith's College to offer scholarships for culinary excellence
PAUL SMITHS, NY (12/07/2016)(readMedia)-- Paul Smith's College will partner with a national nonprofit to offer full tuition scholarships to two students who excel in a culinary competition this spring.
The Careers through Culinary Arts Program works with underprivileged youth through the culinary arts and prepares them for college and careers in the restaurant and hospitality industry.
"I am so happy that Paul Smith's will now partner with C-CAP," said Peter Burns, vice president for Enrollment Management. "This is such a quality organization. C-CAP's programs and competitions bring out the best in students, and I am confident that they will excel at Paul Smith's College. We look forward to awarding our first scholarships this spring to students who compete successfully and apply to enter our baking, culinary and/or hospitality programs."
Student who enter the competition are challenged to prepare classic French dishes that demonstrate their culinary, safety, sanitation and presentation skills in a timed event. The two scholarships they receive are renewable each year.
C-CAP holds competitions in New York City; Philadelphia; Los Angeles; Washington, D.C.; Chicago; Virginia; and Arizona. For more information, visit ccapinc.org.
