Pendragon Theatre Presents Chekhov Masterpiece 'The Seagull' at SUNY Potsdam This Weekend

Department of Theatre and Dance Hosts Pendragon Theatre Production of Anton Chekhov's 'The Seagull' at SUNY Potsdam's Performing Arts Center

POTSDAM, NY (09/24/2015)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam's Department of Theatre and Dance will host the Pendragon Theatre production of Anton Chekov's "The Seagull" starting tomorrow in the Performing Arts Center.

The Saranac Lake-based theatre company will present the classic play on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 25 and 26. All shows are at 7:30 p.m. in the Proscenium Theater.

This production of "The Seagull" is a new take on Chekhov's masterpiece. Chekov's darkly comic play has recently been reignited for the 21st century by one of the most exciting new voices in British Theatre, Anya Reiss, winner of the Most Promising Playwright Award from both the Evening Standard and Critics' Circle.

The Pendragon production of "The Seagull" is directed by Anne Thibault, an assistant professor of acting at Eastern Illinois University, and features two recent graduates of the SUNY Potsdam theatre program, Heather Martell and Miles River Willow.

This production is supported in large part by Saranac Lake ArtWorks, a collaboration of artists, arts-related businesses and organizations, whose goal is to promote the arts in Saranac Lake and the surrounding Adirondack communities. ArtWorks encompasses the visual arts, drama, literature and music.

Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for SUNY Potsdam faculty, staff and students, and $8 for senior citizens and youth. To purchase tickets, contact the Community Performance Series Box Office at (315) 267-2277 or www.cpspotsdam.org, or visit the box office, located in the PAC lobby.

The Proscenium Theater is wheelchair accessible. There will be no sign language interpreter for these performances.
