Pennsylvania Resident Robert Dempsey Awarded
Respect for human dignity and community service recognized
EMMITSBURG, MD (09/11/2013)(readMedia)-- Emmitsburg, Maryland – Mount St. Mary's University awarded Robert C. Dempsey
The Sisters of St. Francis Award at an employee ceremony to kick off the new 2013-2014 Academic Year.
Mr. Dempsey served as Director of Mount St. Mary's University Dining Services for over 30 years until he retired in 1999. While working at the Mount he touched many people's lives in positive and meaningful ways. Students, colleagues, those he reported to and those who worked for him offer strong respect for Mr. Dempsey because of his compassion and leadership.
The award, established in 1997, is named after a religious order that served the Mount community for nearly 100 years. The award honors a present or former employees of Mount St. Mary's who embodies its mission both at work -- as an example to other employees -- and in their life outside of the Mount.
The nominee's life should be guided by high moral standards and a mature faith resulting in compassionate and just engagement with the world, and dedication to the highest standard as a Mount employee. The nominee should respect the dignity of all persons, display a concern for problems facing humanity and be committed to living as a responsible citizen. While the profession of the Catholic faith is not a requirement for receiving this award, the witness of the nominee's life should affirm the values and beliefs central to the Catholic vision of the person and society.
Mr. Dempsey resides in Bonneauville. PA with his wife Doreen and is presently a member of St. Joseph the Worker in Bonneauville parish and serves as a Team Member of the RCIA, a former eucharistic minister and CCD teacher. He is also a charter member of the Bonneauville Lions Club, the Catholic War Veteran's in Bonneauville, PA, Knights of Columbus - 3rd degree and was selected as "Outstanding Young Man of the Year," a national award selected by the Jaycees in Titusville, PA.
All employees and retirees of the Mount are eligible for this award.
