ELIZABETHTOWN, PA (09/23/2010)(readMedia)-- James Armstrong, adjunct faculty member in the Music Division of the Elizabethtown College Department of Fine and Performing Arts, presents an evening of percussion with Overdekte Brug Percussietrio. The concert, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, held in the K?V in the College's Brossman Commons, is part of the College's Monday Series Concert.

Overdekte Brug Percussietrio, composed of Armstrong, Stephen Goss and Daniel M. Heslink, performs works by Cage, Hodkinson and Azevedo. Also in their repertoire are original works and solo percussion pieces performed by each member.

The ensemble covers a multitude of percussion styles bridging extremes of emotion and musical possibility. From avant-garde to traditional, the excitement that Overdekte Brug Percussietrio brings to each performance is certainly memorable and unprecedented.

Armstrong is instructor of percussion at Elizabethtown College and is a freelance percussionist in the greater Philadelphia and New York areas. He has performed and taught on five continents as a solo artist and clinician for several percussion companies and has been a member of the internationally acclaimed Marassa Duo, the Robert Hohner Percussion Ensemble and several other notable artists.

Goss is director of bands at Ephrata (Pa.) Middle School and is on the faculty of the Pennsylvania Academy of Music, in Lancaster, Pa., where he is wind and percussion department chairman.

Heslink, a faculty member at Millersville (Pa.) University since 1983, serves as director of percussion studies, director of the Wind Ensemble, and is acting associate dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, and former chair of the music department.
