Peter Sitarik Receives Dr. Joseph A. and Linda Ryan Caputo Award in Chemistry

MILLERSVILLE, PA (05/30/2014)(readMedia)--  Peter J. Sitarik, Blandon, Pa., has been selected to receive the Dr. Joseph A. and Linda Ryan Caputo Award in Chemistry from Millersville University. Sitarik will graduate from Fleetwood Area High School and will attend Millersville University of Pennsylvania this fall to study chemistry.

The Caputo Award in Chemistry is a scholarship in the amount of $2,697.00. Dr. Caputo is a former chemistry instructor and former president of Millersville University. He and his wife Linda are long time supporters of the students at the university.

Sitarik pursued a solid college preparatory program of courses in high school that included Advanced Placement (AP), accelerated and honors- level classes. In addition, he was a member of the chorus, marching band and orchestra all four years of high school. He also participated in theatre in grades 10 and 12 and was in the National Honor Society for two years, achieving high honor roll throughout his high school career.

Sitarik ran cross country in grades nine through 12, was involved in his church youth group in ninth and 10th grades and participated in the Science Olympiad for three years, winning several placements in the top three. He received the President's Educational Excellence Award in grades 10 and 11 and won the Academic Scholar Award in grade 11.
