Phoenix House NY to Open First Sensory Modulation Space Inside a Residential Addiction Treatment Facility in NYS
LONG ISLAND CITY, NY (11/29/2021) (readMedia)-- To honor Dr. Douglas M. Bass, Phoenix House will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony and unveil its new sensory modulation space, the first of its kind in a residential setting. This cutting-edge treatment space features state of the art fiber optic lighting, light touch panels,high/low frequency sound waves, tactile objects, and more, sensory modulation rooms have been proven to foster recovery and mental health treatment.
Dr. Douglas Bass, Phoenix House's former medical director, passed away suddenly in March 2020. He worked tirelessly to support his recovering patients at the onset of the pandemic, and while he was never tested for Covid, he experienced Covid-like symptoms before his passing. He may have been the first working physician to die of Covid in New York City.
