Phoenix House to Launch New Services at Recovery Center in Bed-Stuy as Crises Raise Addiction Risk

Launch will include food giveaway for local residents dealing with Covid-19

BROOKLYN, NY (06/07/2020) (readMedia)-- Phoenix House will launch new services at the Recovery Center in Bedford-Stuyvesant on Monday amid the Covid-19 pandemic and social unrest related to the death of George Floyd-stressful crises that threaten to exacerbate the causes of alcohol and drug abuse.

The Brooklyn Community Recovery Center focuses on peer-driven drug and alcohol recovery support for the Central Brooklyn area and offers all services free of charge. The additional services at the Center are made possible by a generous grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation in addition to funding from the New York State Office of Addiction Support and Services.

The relaunch of the Center will also include a food giveaway for Brooklynites struggling to feed their families during the Covid-19 pandemic. Phoenix House has partnered with the Department of Probation, Urban Strategy Dean Street Residence, WIC and Interboro Developmental Consultation to give out 125 meals to families in need.
