ANNVILLE, PA (01/13/2012)(readMedia)-- Lebanon Valley College's Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery will feature the prints of noted celebrity photographer Arnold Newman in the exhibit "Arnold Newman: Luminaries of the Twentieth Century in Art, Politics and Culture." The exhibit opens January 20 with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. The LVC Jazz Ensemble will perform, and special guest Dan Newman, grandson of the late photographer, will be in attendance.

The exhibit, organized by art2art Circulating Exhibitions, features some of Newman's most famous environmental portraits, including such notables as John F. Kennedy, Woody Allen, Georgia O'Keeffe, Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, Leonard Bernstein, Twyla Tharp, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Jonas Salk. Newman explained his interest in photographing these luminaries by stating that "We are fascinated by people who shape our lives, even if they shape them in a small way."

Professional portrait photographer Heather Shelley will discuss portrait photography techniques in a February 25 workshop from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Participants must pre-register and pay a participation fee. Registration fee is $25 for Gallery members; $30 for non-members; $15 for LVC students. Register at www.lvc.edu/gallery.
