Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson to Close Ticonderoga Health Center in August

SCHENECTADY, NY (07/30/2013)(readMedia)-- For decades women, men and teens in the Capital Region have trusted Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson (PPMH) to provide quality health care and educational services, and we value this health care provider relationship.

After careful evaluation, we have decided to close our Ticonderoga health center, located at 171 Lake George Avenue, on August 27. This decision enables PPMH to focus on the continued upgrading of our other health centers, to ensure we can continue to offer the highest level of patient care. It will also help PPMH meet the growing and diverse needs of women and families in the area by providing more services, extended hours for appointments and walk-in hours at our other facilities.

Transition

"We care deeply about the health of our patients," states Linda Scharf, PPMH director of communications. "Our priority is to transition patients to one of our other locations, or to a different provider, to ensure they get the prescriptions and health services they need - without interruption."

It is our understanding that Planned Parenthood North Country New York is in the process of seeking approval to open a health center in Essex County. We are confident that Planned Parenthood North Country New York will offer the professional facility, range of hours and services patients deserve. However, until that occurs, we invite patients to continue receiving quality health care at our Glens Falls center at 135 Warren Street.

Patient electronic medical records are already available at all Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson centers to ease the transition. Patients may call 518.792.0994 x202 and speak to a Patient Care specialist who can assist them.

Additionally, we're providing patients with a list of local providers who are currently accepting new patients, and a medical records release form, if they choose to transfer to a different provider.

Community Commitment

Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson is grateful to the community for its support and determination to ensure that high quality health care is accessible to all. We will continue to advocate for reproductive rights and provide education programs at schools, community events, and local organizations in Essex County.
