Pleasant Hill Cook Wins State Fair S'more Title

DES MOINES, IA (08/16/2022) (readMedia)-- Lydia Davis of Pleasant Hill won first place and a $25 cash award in the S'mores Creations competition judged Saturday, August 13, at the 2022 Iowa State Fair.

JH Cownie of Des Moines earned second place and Micah Hunter of Waukee claimed third place.

Entries were judged on taste, appearance and creativity.

The Iowa State Fair Food Department is the largest of any state fair in the country. There are 128 divisions, 615 classes and nearly 6,300 entries at this year's Fair. Food Department judging is held in the Elwell Family Food Center sponsored by Urban Air Adventure Park.


The Iowa State Fair is one of the oldest and largest agricultural and industrial expositions in the country and the single largest event in the state. The Fair began over 160 years ago and is now considered one of the best events in the nation, attracting more than one million Fairgoers every year from all over the world.
