HERKIMER, NY (11/16/2011)(readMedia)-- Herkimer County Community College has named student-athletes to the Green and Gold Club for October 2011.
The Female Athlete of the Month is women's soccer player Melissa Stec, Pleasant Valley, NY. She is a Liberal Arts & Sciences: Childhood Education major. She had 17 goals and 7 assists in 18 games this year. Stec was named to First team All-Region and First team All-Conference. Coach Amy Dommer said "Melissa has excellent ball control and runs the field when she is in the game. She is able to place the ball wherever she needs to in order to score."
HCCC's Green and Gold Club honors an outstanding male and female athlete each month. Herkimer County Community College is a unit of the State University of New York, located in Herkimer, NY, about 20 miles east of Utica, NY. With an enrollment of approximately 3,600 students, Herkimer offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs, on-campus housing, an active co-curricular activities schedule and a national championship athletic program.
