SCHENECTADY, NY (03/08/2011)(readMedia)-- Celebrate the change of the seasons with a dip in Lake Champlain during the 2nd annual Polar Plunge on Saturday, March 19th. This event, hosted by Planned Parenthood Mohawk Hudson (PPMH), benefits the medical, educational, and rape crisis services provided in Essex County. Last year this event raised $2,300 to support PPMH services and programs.

Adventurous participants will gather at George Davis and Susan Bacot-Davis' boathouse at 11 a.m.; the plunge will take place at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided for participants following the plunge. Those less adventurous can pledge a plunger.

"What better way to break the ice of winter than to jump in the lake," states hostess Susan Bacot-Davis. "Planned Parenthood's services are so important in the community. This event is a great way to have fun and help provide essential reproductive health care to women, men, and teens locally."
