Poughkeepsie Principal Inducted as President of School Administrators Association

ALBANY, NY (10/24/2011)(readMedia)-- Nadine Jackson-Ivey, principal of Clinton Elementary School in the Poughkeepsie City School District, was inducted as president of the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS) today, October 24, at the SAANYS Annual Conference in Rochester, New York. Jackson-Ivey succeeds Frederick Kirsch of the Jamesville-DeWitt Central School District and will serve a one-year term.
Jackson-Ivey began her career in school administration in 1992 as an assistant principal in the Wappingers Central School District. She joined Poughkeepsie schools in 1995. An admired leader in Poughkeepsie and around the state, Jackson-Ivey is known for her passion and dedicated to public education and her students.
Commented SAANYS Executive Director Kevin Casey, "The students in her care are fortunate to have such a dedicated professional working diligently on their behalf." In 2009, Jackson-Ivey was selected as New York State's Outstanding Educator – an award presented by SAANYS based on nominations and accolades from her colleagues and greater school community.
Jackson-Ivey received her Bachelors of Science degree in education, Master's degree, Certificate of Advance Studies, and Administrative Certificate from SUNY New Paltz. She is also a member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals and is president of the Poughkeepsie Public School Administrator's Association.
SAANYS represents over 7,000 school administrators, supervisors, and coordinators. As a professional association, SAANYS is committed to providing direction, service, and support to its members in their efforts to improve the quality of education and leadership in New York State schools. SAANYS is the state affiliate to both the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).
