Preservation League Names Pillars of New York
Pell Family, Pratt Family to Be Honored at November 18 Gala in NYC
ALBANY, NY (10/09/2009)(readMedia)-- On November 18, 2009, the Preservation League will honor two families with proud traditions of stewardship and preservation of New York's irreplaceable buildings and landscapes with its most prestigious tribute, the Pillar of New York Award.
The Pell Family will be celebrated for the for their leadership since 1820 in the preservation of Fort Ticonderoga and its surroundings, and the Pratt Family for their leadership in the founding and preservation of the Pratt Institute Campus, design excellence, and landscape protection.
Each year the League presents The Pillar of New York Award to those who have demonstrated a keen understanding of the value of New York's historic resources by taking extraordinary actions to protect, preserve, and promote those assets. The Pillar of New York Gala will be held on November 18, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hilton and Empire Rooms of the Waldorf=Astoria in New York.
