Prevent Child Abuse Iowa to host 6th Annual Pottery for Prevention fundraising event

DES MOINES, IA (10/01/2009)(readMedia)-- The sixth annual Pottery for Prevention, a fundraising event with proceeds benefiting Prevent Child Abuse Iowa, will be held Friday, Nov. 6, at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 519 Park Street, in downtown Des Moines.

Doors open at 6 p.m., beginning with a silent auction, followed by a live auction at 8 p.m. Hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer, and soft drinks will be provided. Tickets are $50 per person. Free parking is available.

This year Pottery Prevention is going green, featuring pottery and art from Iowa potters and artists in addition to art donated from private collections. These unique artworks, combined with value-added enhancements such as gift certificates, services, and other goods, are sold at auction during the event.

Some of the unique value-added items that will be auctioned with this year's pottery packages include:

  • A Hollywood Get-Away featuring tickets to the Ellen DeGeneres show, airfare to Los Angeles, California provided by Allegiant Air, a two-night stay at the Beverly Hills Hilton with dinner for two at the Beverly Hills Hilton Circa 55 Restaurant, and limousine transportation from the airport
  • A round of golf in a foursome with Johnny Orr at the Harvester
  • A two-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Chicago with two CityPasses 
  • A Disney Adventure with passes to Walt Disney World Resort, and a four-day stay at Lake Buena Vista Resort in Orlando, Florida.

In its first five years Pottery for Prevention netted more than $200,000 for Prevent Child Abuse Iowa programs. Ticket prices and winning bids are tax deductible in part.
