Continues Tradition of Supporting the Arts in the Capital Region

DELMAR, NY (05/12/2009)(readMedia)-- The Mendelssohn Club of Albany today announced that Price Chopper will be an official sponsor of the club's 100th anniversary season and celebration. Founded in 1909, the Mendelssohn Club plans to officially recognize and celebrate its 100th anniversary on May 16, 2009, with a concert at 7:00 p.m. in Chancellor's Hall in the State Education Building in Albany.

"Price Chopper has a strong tradition of supporting the arts in the Capital Region, and the Mendelssohn Club is grateful that they have chosen to join our team of sponsors," said club president, Michael Palumbo. "Our 100th anniversary is a major milestone for both the club and the Capital Region. We are pleased that Price Chopper has chosen to recognize one of Albany's great traditions by providing the critical support necessary to ensure that the Mendelssohn Club of Albany can continue to be a viable and valuable part of the performing arts scene."

As a not-for-profit organization, the Mendelssohn Club will use sponsorship funds to support centennial celebration activities and to strengthen its financial foundation for the future. The Mendelssohn Club performs two major subscription concerts in May and December each year. Following the Spring Concert on May 16, the club will perform a free concert with the Mendelssohn Club of New York City to celebrate the 200th birthday of Felix Mendelssohn. The concert will take place on Saturday, June 6 at 3:00 p.m. at the Union College Memorial Chapel.
