Queensbury Funeral Director Mark Desimone Appointed to New Volunteer Disaster Commission

ALBANY, NY (11/15/2007)(readMedia)-- Mark DeSimone of Queensbury has been appointed to serve on the Family Assistance Commission (FAC) organized by the New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA) to respond to disasters occurring in New York State. As a FAC member, DeSimone will interview survivors and process paperwork to assist in identifying and facilitating the release of remains to the next of kin. He was chosen to serve on this commission due to his extensive experience as a funeral director in New York State.

DeSimone of Regan and Denny Funeral Home in Queensbury, NY has been a licensed funeral director for 19 years. He was responsible for the care and recovery of the 20 victims of the Ethan Allen Tour Boat capsizing in 2005. He has served as an EMS Paramedic for five years and has experience in family assistance with DMORT (Disaster Mortuary Response Team) including 9/11, New Orleans flooding and the tsunami in Thailand.

FAC will operate under the auspices of the New York State Tribute Foundation, which is the charitable arm of NYSFDA. The NYS Tribute Foundation is a non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting education, outreach and research programs that advance the public's understanding of end-of-life issues.
