LA MIRADA, CA (05/14/2014)(readMedia)-- Biola men's tennis is coming off of its best season since it resurfaced in the mid-2000s, and with the addition of Andrew Greenfield things are looking even brighter for the future.
Greenfield will add some experience and depth to Biola's lineup as he transfers in from Riverside City College and brings with him a wealth of academic and athletic accolades.
"Andrew understands college tennis from his previous experience at Riverside," said Head Coach David Goodman. "We are looking forward to all that Andrew will bring to the team. I think he will make a major impact."
Greenfield played his high school tennis at Redlands Senior High Shool before transitioning into the college game at RCC.
He spent four years on the varsity program and was the co-captain of the squad in his senior season (2012). He will be familiar with the Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament when he makes the trip with Biola at the end of next season because he participated in CIF play there when he was a junior and senior in high school.
Greenfield and his partner won the doubles championship in the Citrus Belt League in 2012, and he was a three-time All-CBL first team member.
He spent one redshirt season and one varsity season at RCC before deciding Biola was the right place for him to spend his final years as an undergraduate student-athlete.
"I love the close, Christ-centered community that Biola offers," said Greenfield. "I know many people who have attended Biola and they all enjoyed their time here."
Greenfield made the Dean's list at RCC and will enter Biola's classrooms in the fall.
