Radio Success

Celia East, from Dublin, Va., is a Mass Communications and Philosophy double major here at Emory & Henry College. After taking an intro class in the Mass Communications department, East found her calling. After utilizing WEHC 90.7's studios for a class project, East wanted to get involved with the radio station. "After working in the studios this semester, I realized that I loved radio," East said. "My majors here have sort of changed over time and I'm glad I found my place in the Mass Communications department and the radio station."

East started her own music program after organizing a pilot episode. Her music show is called Kitchen Sink. "I called the show Kitchen Sink after the expression "everything but the kitchen sink" to show that my music tastes are all over the place. I'm playing everything but the kitchen sink," said East. Her program focuses on Americana type music, but that in itself is a broad category.

After graduating from Emory & Henry College, East would like to find work in the Nashville radio scene. "If I could get to a place where I'm interviewing the musicians about their songs that I play and learn their thought process, that would be amazing," East said about her future.

You can catch Kitchen Sink on WEHC 90.7 on Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. and Fridays at 7:00 p.m.
