Raj Clark Receives Final Convocation Award

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (04/27/2011)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 21, Hampden-Sydney College junior DesRaj McCree Clark received the H. B. Overcash Award, presented by Dr. Michael J. Wolyniak, Assistant Professor of Biology. This award is given to a premedical student to honor the memory of Professor of Biology H. B. Overcash, a much respected and revered teacher.
An Allan Scholar, Raj serves as a Student Court Investigator. He is a member of the Pre-Health Society, the President's Men, the Rugby Club, the Venture Club, and the national honor societies Phi Beta Kappa (academics) and Chi Beta Phi (science). In May 2010 Raj received the Sophomore Academic Excellence Award recognizing the highest grade-point average in his class, and at Opening Convocation in August 2010, he received the Samuel S. Jones Phi Beta Kappa Award. A biology major, Raj graduated from George Washington High School and is the son of Drs. Donovan & Kanchan Clark of Danville.
