Rap Artist ASAP Ferg to Headline Spring Concert at SUNY Canton

CANTON, NY (04/07/2014)(readMedia)-- A Harlem rapper who received the "Rookie of the Year" honor at the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards will headline SUNY Canton's spring concert this month.

ASAP Ferg will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 in the Dana Hall Gym. Tickets are $10 for SUNY Canton students $15 for the public. They can be purchased at the SUNY Canton Activities Office in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center or at Northern Music and Video in Potsdam. Fellow rap artist and SUNY Canton student Don Cypha will be the opening act.

ASAP Ferg is part of the popular hip-hop collective ASAP Mob. His debut solo single "Work" earned more than two million online views and was named as one of the "50 Best Songs of 2012" by Complex Magazine. His debut album, "Trap Lord," which was released last year, received positive reviews from critics.

ASAP Ferg is just the latest in a string of popular musical acts that the Student Activities Office has brought to the College. SUNY Canton previously hosted nationally known artists such as Buckcherry, Breaking Benjamin, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Gym Class Heroes.

"We are always on the lookout for talented musical acts who are rising stars," said Director of Student Activities Priscilla Leggette. "ASAP Ferg just announced he will be performing tour dates with major recording artist M.I.A., so there is a lot of buzz surrounding his music."
