Ratzlaff honored during Entrepreneurial Showcase

DECORAH, IA (04/30/2013)(readMedia)-- Luther senior Justin Ratzlaff was awarded the Daryl and Audrey Erdman Prize for Entrepreneurship at the 28th annual Luther College Entrepreneurial Showcase held Tuesday, March 18 in Luther's Peace Dining Room. During the program, other awards and scholarships announced included the Accenture Scholarship and the E-Club Entrepreneurial Leadership Prize.

The Daryl and Audrey Erdman Prize honors Luther students who create, develop and manage a successful entrepreneurial enterprise. The competition is open to all full-time Luther students regardless of major.

Ratzlaff applied for the scholarship by submitting an application that included a business summary explaining his bike and ice cream shop, SPOKES. Ratzlaff's junior year of college was heavily involved in planning the shop and SPOKES was opened on July 27, 2012.

Ratzlaff, son of Ben and Michelle Ratzlaff, is a 2009 graduate of Waconia High School. He is majoring in chemistry at Luther with a minor in secondary education.

Since the initial program in 1986, the goal of the Entrepreneurial Showcase has been to serve as an annual forum for students, faculty, alumni and friends of the college who are interested in and support entrepreneurship.
