ST. BONAVENTURE, NY (04/11/2012)(readMedia)-- St. Bonaventure University alumnus Raymond C. Dee of Naples, Fla., formerly of Pottsville, Pa., has been elected the next chair of the university's Board of Trustees.

Dee's term will begin in June and he will succeed John R. "Jack" McGinley Jr. of Pittsburgh, who has served as board chair since 2004. Dee's fellow officers will be elected in June.

"As we prepare to bid farewell to a leader of Jack McGinley's caliber, we are extraordinarily fortunate that Ray is willing to serve in the role of chair. Given Ray's tenure on the Board and his depth of involvement, he is positioned to hit the ground running and maintain and build upon the momentum that has been established under Jack's leadership," said University President Sr. Margaret Carney, O.S.F., S.T.D.

Dee has served for several terms as the chair of the Development Committee of the Board in addition to serving as vice chair of the board for the past year.

Dee served as executive vice president of Cressona Aluminum Co., a firm he founded in 1979 until its sale to Alumax in 1996. He presently serves as the chairman of Service Center Metals located in Prince George, Va., and is an owner and board member of Alexin LLC, an aluminum manufacturer located in Fort Wayne, Ind.

An active alumnus, Dee has served on the SBU President's Council, National Alumni Board and Capital Campaign Committee, and in the externship program. He has provided leadership for the Annual Bonaventure Fund, taking on the posts of national vice chairman and alumni chairman prior to serving as national chairman of the 102nd Annual Bonaventure Fund.

He was SBU's Alumnus of the Year in 1990. He was the chair of the Development Committee overseeing the 150th Anniversary Campaign and is an honorary co-chair of the new School of Business Campaign.

He has also served as a trustee for Alvernia College in Reading, Pa., as a board member for Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center and the Schuylkill Economic Development Corp., as president of St. John the Baptist Church Council, and as board chair of Seaton Manor.

Dee and his wife, Maureen, split their time between Naples, Fla., and Sag Harbor, N.Y. Of the couple's six children, three daughters have graduated from St. Bonaventure.

In addition to his bachelor's degree in economics from St. Bonaventure, Dee holds an MBA from Loyola University, Chicago.
