Reform Groups Assess Governor's Ethics Package: Reaffirm Clean Conscience Pledge

Deliver open letter evaluating Cuomo's proposals for ethics, elections and oversight

NEW YORK, NY (01/20/2016)(readMedia)-- One week after Governor Cuomo's State of the State and budget address, Common Cause/NY, Citizens Union, and NYPIRG will assess his proposals for ethics, elections, and oversight. The groups will deliver an open letter outlining their shared position and critique, and call on the legislature to finish the job on ethics by responding to the Governor's proposals and passing reforms outlined in the Clean Conscience Pledge.

Background

Earlier this month, reformers unveiled the "Clean Conscience" ethics pledge: a minimum set of measures to address the systematic corruption in Albany. The pledge currently has bipartisan support from 21 lawmakers including the Independent Democratic Conference.
